I’m looking at moving to Nairobi shortly. I’m bring my 4 year Labrador all the way from the US. However, I am hearing that there is high crime rate on dog theft and that you can’t bring them to an outdoor cafe. Is this correct?? Just want to get a better understanding of what to expect after we arrive. Does anyone have a large dog who live in Nairobi who could enlighten me please?

Hi, we have four dogs and they just stay in the compound and actually if you try and walk them, they don't really like it much, but on the occasions we have walked them I have never felt that they might be stolen.  pedigree dogs are worth a lot of cash, so simialrly to other countries, there is a market for stolen dogs.

I am unsure why you'd want to bring a dog to a cafe though as its not really something that people do in Kenya - not even sure it would be permitted.
