groceries for a pescatarian person, not many other depenses, though i do enjoy wine.
anybody have any idea? i searched the forums and no one seems to have shared this info.
this would be for a full move.
thank you

And do an internet search for

...to get quite a few hits on this subject.
Hello Danielle !
Voilà quelques infos, si tu as besoin d'autre chose, n'hésite pas, sens toi à l'aise.

Hello Danielle!
I'll answer you in French 😁
The cost of living is indeed huge in Guyana, especially in the Cayenne/Rémire/Matoury area. From the many people I've met, those who live very well are civil servants who have a "cost of living" bonus of 40% on their monthly salary.
Looking at our personal expenses, for 2, the price of groceries has doubled from €100 to €200 per week, we paid €400 for rent in Rennes in Brittany for a clean 50m², here you don't have anything for less than €650-700 and it's 30m² poorly built, poorly insulated, there are abuses everywhere, in the private sector and at agencies.
If your accommodation is poorly insulated, your air conditioning will cost you a lot in electricity. This is our case, so we chose to put it at really strategic times like at night, at 27, and during the day we chose to live with the local weather, it's really a plus to understand people and learn a new way of life.
We come from Brittany so we didn't come here to have freshness at home 😁😅
I come back to your pescatarian nutrition mode, fishing works well in Guyana, especially if you move away from the cities Cayenne/Rémire/Matoury.
Since the fish is local, we would expect it to be cheaper, at one time yes, but now no, everyone wants to make money here, so when fishermen see the prices of supermarkets they increase too.
The principle is that everything that is imported into Guyana is very expensive, so wine... ouch, but hey there is some.
Here is some information, if you need anything else, do not hesitate, feel at ease.
