What do I have to pay for semi decent room with kitchen in HCMC. Just clean , private and not too cramped etc. Have bike so not necessary to be in downtown.

Thanks but I would not pay that kind of money...what a waste! I was thinking of below 200 usd or around 5 million.

Landlords of such places usually don't advertise and they are known to not register their tenants legally as required.

If you are not to finicky you can certainly find a single room studio that has a hotplate and small refrigerator and sink (and maybe a small microwave) in the corner but you might have to use a community/shared toilet.

Best bet is to rent a cheap hotel room for a week on arrival as you'll never be able to safely arrange one of those places long distance.

Hit the streets in the best neighborhood for you and look for signs advertising rooms for rent (Còn Phòng).

Good luck!

I used Booking.com, per Aidan in HCMC, and came up with 41 days for USD $600. It's not the bottom of the barrel; I thought I'd skip that range. Location, location, location.

When you get to Booking.com, look for the buttons that say apartments and check serviced apartments. The price range is huge.

Just from my experience for around 200USD your not going to find much of anything serviced within 30-45 minutes downtown. Maybe 5 years ago but if you do find something it wont be clean or decent. I really think your budget needs to be at least double that. Where specifically are you wanting to stay? You might be able to find something thats not serviced, really small with no window and a good drive away or inside a hem in a hem in a hem. Saigon is just not that cheap when it comes to real estate. There are other cities like Da Nang that give you a lot more bang for your buck on living.
