e-visum help needed: Residential address + Entry & Exit checkpoint

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Vietnam next month, but I’m having some trouble with a few questions on the e-visa application form:

  1. Entry checkpoint
  2. Exit checkpoint
  3. Intended temporary residential address in Vietnam

Since I’ll only be booking my flights a few days in advance, my entry and exit points, as well as my accommodation, may vary depending on the weather, availability, (ticket) prices, and where I feel like going.

Could you advise on how to complete the e-visa application without knowing this information in advance?

Kind regards,

Dewi

Hello syts (Dewi). Welcome to the expat.com Vietnam forum.

Though the exit and entry checkpoints are still asked for on the application, neither of those now show on an approved eVisa. E-visa holders may enter and exit Vietnam through any of the designated international border crossings, including all international airports. This has been confirmed by multiple expat.com members, as well as by local Vietnamese visa agents.

For the intended temporary residential address, you'll note that the application asks for "intended" temporary address. Choose a hotel which you might currently (at time of your application) consider residing at. There is no penalty for changing your mind and booking into a different hotel after arrival. Once here, it is the responsibility of the hotel to advise immigration of your temporarily residing there. The hotel will ask for your passport (let them take a photocopy, not hold it) and will register you with the authorities. That said, and as an example, I would not indicate my temporary address to be a hotel in Ho Chi Minh City should my entry point be stated as Hanoi.

Note: All fields under the "Name of hosting organisation", "Agency/Organization/Individual that the applicant plans to contact when enter into Viet Nam" must be left completely blank, as this section does not apply to tourism applications, and is for people who will be sponsored to enter Vietnam (e.g. by an employer, charity org., diplomatic mission, etc). Under this field, no name, no address, no tel#, and no purpose. Very important.

I hope that clears things up. Feel free to ask any further questions which you might have and we'll do our best to help. Lots of friendly folk at expat.com.

Once again, welcome to the forum. Nice to have you with us.
