Consequences of Trump as US President.

Regardless on your views of a woman's 'right' to kill her child, short of a constitutional amendment (a very high bar), the federal government could not outlaw abortion.  It became a states rights issue when Roe vs Wade became moot.

As far as the department of education, since it's inception in 1979, education in the US has, by any metric, gotten much worse.  The system is rotten to the core.  The department of education educates no one.  Prior to 1979 education was solely the responsibility of the states as it should be.

Fred

@Enzyte Bob

The way I look at it, if a woman wants to terminate her live birth, could that give her the right to terminate previous live live births? Same thing.
Terminating live births should be a crime, it's bad enough to terminate unborn people. - @Enzyte Bob

Please show this to be true. We need to know exactly where terminating live births is allowed, and we need links to the state laws that allow it.

Trump's X acount doesn't count as evidence.

This rubbish is why Trump is so dangerous. He creates outrage at something that simply isn't true, then promises to fix a terrible injustice that doesn't exist.

I see it this way, if you have to lie in order to sound good, you have a really crap argumant.

She agrees with Trump that women should be punished for having an abortion.

Don't worry, Trump will protect women whether they like it or not.

I believe a major view that is being overlooked is his new cabinet.  All of his current nominations, let me repeat this, ALL of his cabinet nominations are strictly through nepotism.  Not the best or brightest, but who bows to him, who did him huge favores. I would not be surprised to see Mike Lindell, Kari Lake or Alex Jones get a position. Trump did a dry run on the presidency to find the quirks,  baby, now it's show time!!!

His picks for the justice department should worry US citizens. The rest of us can sit back and watch them regret their votes.

Tariffs are going to mess up world trade but, as countries return the favour, the last usefulness US exports are to their economy will disappear.

The next 4 years will unroll like a Shakespearean tragedy. You have to laugh otherwise you would cry. The blindfold wearing brain dead MAGA’s on this site won’t be laughing in 4 years time.

Yes it’s show time alright and the whole world is invited. That’s what worries me.

"Based on the [former] governor of Virginia, they’re allowing the death of the baby after it’s born,” Trump said of Democrat Ralph Northam, who was governor from 2018 to 2022.

But infanticide is illegal in all U.S. states. "

Infanticide is directly killing the baby after it is born. Not legal, agreed. That is murder.

But not taking necessary measures to keep the baby alive after it is born is not infanticide according to some questionable legal standards and pro-abortionists.

Yes Fred, rhe controversy DOES exist. You cannot ignore it or blow it away if you live in America...which you do not.

The baby born alive under the failed abortion attempt is passively allowed to die by abortionist nurses or nurses aides etc.  by not being fed or given any life saving treatment. They just let it die. Most of us call that "murder" but some states say it is not. Of course you cannot take measures to actively "kill" the baby but you can simply let it die which ethically/morally is killing the baby albeit legally in some states like Virgina.

Fred, I did accept your request to do your research for you and respond to your "challenge".

I almost never do that but I did in this case because USA law and this issue is apparently difficult for average-intellect foreigners like you to understand. I chalk it up to poor reading comprehension.

I won't do it again.

I return to the question I asked you: Should dieing babies born alive, by bungled abortions, be allowed to die, especially in medical settings where they absolutely can take measures to keep the baby alive? You ignored my question.

I believe, if there's real pain,  we will all feel it.  Unless your rich or blinded by devotion.

Trump, in 2016 raised taxes on those making less than $75,000 a year, to end in 2027 I believe.  Yet, those that fall under that threshold still believe they got a tax break. This shows that people will vote party, not policies.

Got to love all these NON US citizens who continue to exhibit Trump derangement syndrome. Nearly 75 million people voted for him lol!  To Fred and his followers,  Trump was president before and we did just fine. He will appoint whoever he feels is qualified; it’s his right as the incoming president. Of course some of these appointees are friends and supporters. Do you really  think he is going to put a bunch of progressive libs in these positions?

OMG, you are an American and you should know better concerning US domestic issues. Even your most liberal "fact checking" sites debunk what you say because they themselves are embarrassed by the obvious disinformation on your side. From politifact and AFT factcheck;

"Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) in December 2017 (archived here), kickstarting dramatic reductions for corporations and temporary discounts for individuals. Democrats branded the plan -- the first major legislative accomplishment of Trump's term -- as a giveaway to the wealthiest that risked blowing a hole in the national debt.

But the legislation does not explicitly raise taxes for Americans with annual salaries less than $75,000, as other independent fact-checking outlets have reported.

"The Trump cuts on average lowered taxes for most households, including on average those earning less than $75,000," said Eric Toder, a fellow at the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center at the Urban Institute (archived here), in a March 12, 2024 email."

Considering the source

For a foreigner you certainly are nasty to Americans who actually had a right and responsibility to vote and have have standing to comment on America's internal affairs, ie elections.

Perhaps out of overreaction you can fabricate a position that our domestic election is a global issue thus you have standing to comment; go ahead, but you do not have standing to insult our voters just as I don't for your country's voters..

Having said that, I do not automatically ignore your opinions. Actually your twisted foreign perspective might cause me some concern given its challenge to my own support for the US election results where the majority spoke.

However: Your writing style with reference to "clowns" and actual attacks on Trump supporters indicates an inability to address concrete issues and thus betrays a rather low intellect and, frankly, with no offense intended, what stupid people think is of no concern to me.

kjwilde

What's up with all the non Americans voicing an opinion on the US selecting a president you don't like (for whatever reason)?  Few, if any of you, don't seem to have even a basic idea of how US governance works.  How the president is in charge of only one branch of government and how impossible it would be for a president to become a tyrant.  The president has been selected by the AMERICAN people.

This particularly goes for those in the UK.  We threw away your system nearly 250 years ago.  Your empire is gone and the only ones who give a f#@k are those who don't recognize Prince Harry as a beta cuck and his wife as a classless skank.  You can have them back now, by the way.

Fred

A US president has massive power and the US is a very interventionist country.

As the US will have an especially stupid president shortly, the rest of the world has to plan ways to insulate themselves from his silliness.

In my most humble of opinions, I can see a lot of countries either joining BRICS, or partnering with it.

Trump might well be the last US president with Dollar based power.

That very behaviour shows they are unable to justify their vote.

Humble lol. It was not Trump who accelerated discussions (and just that, talk) on BRICS, it was the other guy, biden, whom you apparently would have favored over Trump.

BRICS has actually been around for decades threatening to smash the post WWII world order (SARCASM). BRICS was once an interesting idea but with insurmountable barriers to replacing the US dollar as the reserve currency. I would suspect your beloved GBP or the EURO would have much greater success than some basket of South African. Brazilian, Russian l  Indian and Chinese communist controlled RMB. It doesn't even make sense and not all of those countries are allies to each other.

Individually they are weak mostly secondary currencies but taken together they are...still weak currencies, meaning financial investors are not interested even if politicians in weak countries are.

So, with respect to America Haters who relish the prospect of America failing, this takes us to the concept of:

Mental Masturbation

Engaging in intellectually stimulating conversation with little or no practical purpose.

Thought processes that only serve to satisfy oneself.

That is BRICS

Biden is a fool with dementia- He was the last straw in years of lies and broken promises that forced Russia into his war.

NATO won't expand one inch eastwards

The US ran the revolution in Ukraine that removed the legitimate, freely elected, government

No, Biden is dangerous, as his replacement dem useless idiot would have been if she hadn't given the election to Trump.

However, Biden's theft of Russian money helped China accelerate BRICS.

I believe Trump's idiocy will do even more.

This is just one aspect that the blinkered Trump supporters do not really consider but is of great import.

The US Dollar due to its rightfully earned respect on world markets (stable (until now) democracy, a vibrant wealth creating market, transparent judicial system, economic heft) has become the reserve currency of the world. Roughly 60% of all reserve currency assets are held by central banks in US $. This gives the country a licence to (literally print money) and contain its huge foreign debt imbalance. The dollar is fungible. If there is one thing that can affect a currency more than anything else it’s political upheaval. Hitherto the American democratic system has garnered huge respect around the world and rightfully so.

Unlike Fred I am not a ‘capitalist under the bed’ fearing guy. Quite the opposite but Fred is right for all western democracies to be fearful of not so much the BRICS but what is referred to as ‘BRICS Bridge’ Currently all banks worldwide transacting in dollars have to do so through a ‘correspondent’ bank in America. This gives the US government immense leverage.

BRICS Bridge has been modelled on a system being developed by the BIS (Bank for International Settlements) essentially the central bankers bank if you will. Its called mBridge. China’s view is that payments technology, will eventually reduce the power that America gets from its position as the centre of global finance. BRICS Bridge will make transactions cheaper and faster and yes Mr Putin an easier more effective way to evade sanctions. The Chinese have taken the lead on the software and code behind the project much of it filched from the BIS (red faces all around in Basle).

One of the reasons Gold has surged in price is its purchase by central banks around the world selling dollars. Trump supporters by default are taking a ‘whats best for America short term view’ and are ignoring the bigger picture.

Trump is right when he says Europe have not contributed their fair share to NATO defence. The UK not so much but in that sense we have relied too heavily on the US taxpayer. All said and done the US is the biggest player in town and the old adage  ‘If Uncle Sam sneezes the rest of the world catches a cold’ still applies. What the leader of the most powerful nation in the world says matters. That is why many contributors to this debate are incensed by a future US President with a criminal record as an individual NOT a card carrying member of the Republican party. We are not interfering in your democratic system.

For the record I have never before become involved in political debates on this Forum as it all ends up going down a never ending rabbit hole. I feel I have to make my voice heard even if it affects the thin skinned ( much higher IQ than myself) Dan’s of this world.
