Information on Merida ? US couple considering move.

Hello .. my name is Robin and my spouse and I are considering relocating to Mexico (from the US). From the little research I've done, Merida is one of the locations we are considering. My spouse is a Mexican citizen but he hasn't been back for 24 years and I've only been on vacation once many years ago. But, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are very seriously considering moving but don't know anything outside of what you read on the internet. We are in our 50s and 60s and I think I'd qualify for at least a temporary residency visa.

I'll be traveling to Mexico this summer an d I'd like to visit Merida.

So, can anyone share your experiences, cost of living, safety, climate housing and other costs, etc?

We would certainly appreciate all the information we can get from those of you who are living the life !
