Has anyone received an F+ Card sooner than 5 month?

Mia0210

Hi everyone,

There’s been a lot of discussion here about the processing times for F cards, L cards, and even citizenship applications. However, I haven’t seen much about the timeline for F+ cards.

I understand that, deep down, it’s probably the same as with F and L cards—decisions being made on the very last day of the processing period. But I’m curious: has anyone been lucky enough to receive their F+ card earlier than the standard 5-month timeframe?

After all, for the F+ card, DVZ mostly just checks if you’re still living with your partner at the same address, which is visible in the National Register.

If you’ve renewed your F card to an F+, please share your experience!

No, I haven't applied for it myself. This was for my client who submitted the application, and I was inquiring on her behalf. But to answer your question: no, my client received a decision (positive) on the very last day of her 5-month waiting period. So, we can confirm the theory that all applications for any type of residence permit submitted within Belgium are considered right up until the very last day. And so far, I haven't encountered any cases where it's been different.

I was just hoping that since in the case of the F+ card, there's really nothing much to verify (just the fact that spouses/partners are registered at the same address, and this can be checked in a few seconds), the decision would come faster. But unfortunately, it wasn’t. The DVZ either deliberately makes the decision on the very last day, or they have so many dossiers that they process them based on the deadline of the last day. But I don't have any more detailed information on this since I am not working for DVZ :(
