Retirement in Romania

Pensionado775

Hello,

I am a US citizen and am considering moving to Romania for retirement.  I have long wanted to travel in Europe and only did so for a short while.  Romania appears to offer a safe and economical lifestyle for someone like me.

Hopefully, I am being over cautious, but I am concerned about the social situation.  The situation in the US is one reason that I think now is a good time to be elsewhere, at least temporarily.  A great many people have died in the Ukraine-Russia war and conflicts tend to spill over borders, sometimes without much notification in the media.

Are there any episodes of retaliation against Americans, as a result of the hostilities?  I am not a military man, but I could symbolize such a character to someone involved in this proxy war.

I never heard of such episodes, quite the opposite, I think there's a lot of sympathy for Americans here.

No problems at all US citizens in Romania for 7 years.

I have been visiting Romania and various countries in Europe for the past decade. Retiring the end of the year and plan to spend a considerable amount of time in Romania. Never a problem. Adjustment like anywhere else. BTW wife is from NW area. I am sure this provided some bias.
