Australian Aged Pension requirements

Mark60

Hello Aussie members.

Iam trying to get some definitive answers regarding qualifying for the Oz aged pension while living overseas.

First i will say ive read the My Gov info and now even more confused. Ive tried calling, no answer (currently in the Philippines).

My question is. Do i need to be living in Oz for 2 years prior to applying.  Eg: 65-67?

I am sure Steve (aka Bigpearl) on here from Australia can fill you in on the horrors and the tricks of that system.

Welcome to the Forum Mark60.

Yes from my readings/research you are correct on living in Oz for 2 years and during those 2 years you are limited with time out of country while qualifying.

I have posted many and much on the topic over the years here and all I can say to upcoming Australians, my kids included is not to trust any government nor a promised pension. I paid a heck of a lot of tax for 45 years and because I worked hard and smart don't qualify the Aussie pension, too wealthy apparently and my tax contributions will go to many who were too slack to plan a future and rely on subsistence.

Also living O/S will bring a reduced benefit/payment.

Maggots rings a bell and very glad I don't need a pension nor the headaches the Australian government have created.

Good luck.

Cheers, Steve.
