Dogs problems

Post new topic

So, since living in Antalya my family and I have been attacked by dogs few times. I am a runner and as I am out for my run I often meet dogs in the streets. Sometimes, packs of dogs have attacked without biting me or my family but lately, unfortunately I was bit by a dog who did not bark and was just lying there. I was walking onto the main road minding my business and talking on my phone.

The dog got up, bit me and sat down again.

So I had to rush to the hospital to be checked and have all the vaccinations needed.

I was wondering what can I do to put in a complain? I spoke to the local police but they were not very helpful.

I suggest trying an ultrasonic barking deterrent device which emits an ultrasonic sound.  The undetectable sound to humans is annoying to a dog and might deter aggressive behavior.  I’ve used it on barking dogs and they immediately start running away.

Thank you for your suggestion. That's the gadget I bought when I arrived in Antalya but unfortunately it doesn't always work. For whatever reason it's not as effective. It works on cats! Hardly on dogs.

I can’t remember the brand name of the high freq dog silencer, but I got it from another expat friend of mine living in Turkey.  It worked splendidly on all of the dogs in my mom’s Kusadasi neighborhood.  After returning home to the US, my wife borrowed it when she went to Colombia to visit her mom and the device worked just as well on Colombian dogs.  I can share details of the device should you want it.

I would be grateful if you could share the one you have purchased. Mine it's from Hepsiburada and it is called Sonik. This one

I do not know where you live, but dogs around here are very friendly (we had a few big dogs in the past ourselves), my wife even plays the stray dogs on the beach. Never in my 60+ years i have been ever been attacked by dogs.

As a side note I hate Antalya (too big, I even hate Alanya (too much crime)
