SSA/IRS online access for Brazilian spouse

Post new topic

Hi!

Has anyone gone through the process of getting access the the SSA via Login.gov or Id.me for Brazil-based spouses. My wife needs access to SSA and IRS info. I've seen that all access should be through Login.gov or Id.me.

Right now I'm unable to get past the Id.me requirement of a U.S. state card / driver's license or passport and a mobile phone number for a very limited set of telephone country codes (Brazil not included).

Login.gov has the whole - USA street address thing.

I have requested info via FBU in Lisbon but also wondering if any folks on Expat have gone through it?

Thx

"On ID.me's "Verify Your Identity" screen, select the "I don't live in the United States" link at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions to complete the registration- process."

@mberigan I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I have. The bad news is that I had to go to Rhode Island on my Immigration journey last year and they took care of it in the RI SSA office. I had a never-ending challenge with the choose one...Log In.gov OR ID.me. This was only to see the documents on the Cost-of-Living Increase.  The social security benefits from my late American Father to my 98-year-old Brazilian 2nd. mother was also done in the USA.

Best Wishes, but their computer system is a beast, and you can actually fly to the USA and come back before you are able to accomplish anything on that system.
