On CSPAN today Trump announced that he intends to do away with EB-5 visas and replace them with a card in which the prospective immigrant puts up a million dollars rather than skills. These things apparently do not need the approval of Congress but could be done by executive order. His assumption is that a million dollar deposit generates more economic activity in the US than the current EB-5 skill sets. Of course he is almost surely planning to call it a Trump Gold Card. I don't expect it to take long before it becomes a topic of conversation for Vietnam' millionaire class.

I think you are right; it is $5 million. I saw him on the fly on CSPAN but I did read $5 million later. All the engineers and doctors will end up in Canada.

Canada would certainly be a more realisable option, cost-wise.
