Registering property in Greece

Sasha03

Hello,

Can anybody tell me how long it usually takes to the property to be registered after signing a contract in the notary office?.We bought ours 9 months ago and this process is still not completed, our lawyer who was in charge to do this, told me that this is ok and everything is normal, but seems to me too long already.I will appreciate very much if somebody shares his own experience about this.Thank you!

Hello Sasha03,

Welcome to Expat.com😀

I was wondering if you have been able to find any additional information on this topic outside the forum.

Cheers,

Hello Sasha,

I'm not sure I understand your question well. Which registration are you talking about?

Is it the transfer of the property into the land registry files?

If so, it takes between 1 and 30 days after payment of the registration fee, also known as the land registry fee, as almost the entire procedure is electronic.

This tax is paid after the notarial deed has been signed (not the pre-sale contract).

The registration procedure is entirely handled by the notary. Once the notary has fixed the amount, you must pay it within 24 hours.

In my case, as I wasn't there after the signing and didn't yet have a Greek bank account, my lawyer took care of the payment.

I came back a month later and everything was done.

You can also check the status of your property using your Taxisnet credentials on the Greek land registry website. In theory, a copy of your notarial deed is registered there.

Regards,

T.
