Hello Michael Mess,

Welcome to Expat.com 😀

I would say that, like in other countries, the Philippine government may also require that marriages involving Filipino citizens be registered to be legally recognised in the country.

Let’s hope someone who has gone through the same process before will be able to shed some light on it.

All the best,

Cheryl

@Michael Mess

Good evening

I'm completing my probationary period of my 13A Visa.  I filed the paperwork myself; it was not too difficult and definitely worth the savings of P30,000 from an agency.  There is the requirement of a recognized marriage certificate in the Philippines.  If you only have the foreign marriage certificate, this will be a speed bump for you.  I will suggest confirming with the Bureau of Immigrations local office if they will accept your certificate.  Here in Cebu City, they were very helpful.

If you need help with the forms, I am available
