Rush Appointment for Federal Polícia?

seriouscatsoserious

Hey all. I arrived in January 13th with a Digital Nomad visa stamp on my passport. I went through the whole process at my embassy and things went smoothly.

Per instructions, I set an appointment with the Federal Police in SP to validate my DN visa within 90 days. The first appointment I was able to get was on March 17th.

I went to my appointment with all my paperwork and was told that, due to a clerical error on the part of the Embassy, I would need to go to another office in SP to rectify some field in the application, and then make another appointment with the Federal Police to validate my visa.

I've already begun the process of rectifying my paperwork and hope to have that done within a week or so. My main issue is that the next available appointment as of checking today isn't until May, well outside of my 90 day window to check in with Federal Police for my Visa.

I contacted the Federal Police via email as instructed by the person who checked my paperwork, hoping to secure some kind of emergency appointment. No, it isn't an emergency, and I don't expect special treatment, but in this case I was hoping to find a way in quicker especially given that the error was not my doing.

They were unhelpful and instructed me to continue checking the appointment scheduling system for more dates to open up.

Further complicating things, I need to leave the country for a few weeks in mid May, and I'm wondering if leaving and coming back before getting this all squared away is gonna jeopardize things even more. The appointment I have set is May 9th, and I need to leave a week or so after that. My thought was that the purpose of the appointment was something like getting a residency card, and if I leave without it, I won't be able to get back in.

So, I have a few questions for anyone in the know.

  1. If I am for some reason not able to make an appointment with the correct paperwork within the 90 day window, is that going to affect my ability to fully validate my DN visa and stay the rest of the year?
  2. Is there any way that I can make an appointment sooner, anyone I can contact or pay?
  3. In the online scheduling system, is there any chance that as time passes, more appointments will appear in the system SOONER than the ones currently posted? (Ie the first available date as of today is May 9th, if I keep checking could dates in April appear)
  4. Is simply having visited the Federal Police within my window, despite the appointment not having been a success, sufficient to allow to me to continue the process outside of the window?

Basically my worry is that if I am outside the window I will not be able to get my DN visa as intended. Especially so if I leave the country and try to return before it's finished.

Thanks for anyone who can provide any helpful information or links.

My advice is to seek help from CRAI (Centro de Referência e Atendimento para Imigrantes) in Bela Vista. They might be able to book an appointment for you or at least help you explain the situation to the PF.

Try to go there around 9am, address is: R. Maj. Diogo, 834 - Bela Vista, São Paulo - SP, 01324-001, Brazil.

Good luck :)

I had a similar experience with I needed an appointment with none available before the deadline.  I had to check the website about 5-10 times per day and one day, one appointment opened up for the same day.  I assume a cancellation.   Fortunately, I had all of the documents ready yet had to drop everything and head to the Federal Polica in Lapa.   Note that I emailed and went there trying to get help for an earlier appointment without success.

@sfcastro

How were you able to check for appointments? I used the same requirement code or whatever it is from the original appointment I made and was able to access the system.

However, I'm not able to reschedule the meeting for some reason, the button isn't able to be clicked.

And honestly, I can't remember how I scheduled the appointment to begin with. Could you remind me please how that all works?

Here is the link for appointments with Policia Federal for registering for the visa:

https://servicos.dpf.gov.br/agenda-web/acessar

Note you will need to enter your protocol number and date of birth.  If you already have an appointment, you can reschedule it once per 24 hours and searches do not count, only when you confirm the rescheduled appointment.

It's possible to register in a different state, if that is an option for you. I first registered while on holidays in Natal, because Belo Horizonte didn't have any free spots in the agenda. You should fill in the form as if you register in your own address and state, so they send the card to the right delegacia. Just make the appointment in a different state.

Clarify with the PF first if this procedure is still possible, because this was 4 years ago.

Now I live in São Paulo and I recommend against doing anything with the PF here, they are months behind with their work.
