Hi all,

My wife and I are planning on moving to Al Khobar in the next few months to work on a new project with my company. We are both in our mid 30's and have just found out that we are expecting our first child.
I was hoping that someone could advise us on a compound that would be suited for expectant 30 somethings couple?

We have always enjoyed a good social life and although we expect this to change significantly (different culture and first child) we still like the idea of being able to mix with people of a similar age and interest. I am Irish and my wife is English and we would be keen to know which compound is most popular with Irish/English expats.

Also, my wife is planning on continuing to work with her existing company while in Saudi. She will be working from 'home' up until the new arrival.
My worry is that she will suffer from 'cabin fever' working and living in the compounds 24/7.

Any help and advice would be most appreciated.

Hi Gaelic,

Make sure you and your wife have multi-entry visas so you can go to Bahrain for the weekend where you can enjoy a decent solial life.

Brilliant Irish society in Bahrain, they have the best ball for St patricks day. At least your wife wont miss the alcohol being pregnant!

Thanks all for your help and advice. Its very much appreciated.
I'll be sure to get a multiple entry visa as we are keen to spend some time in Bahrain.

Would you have any suggestions on a suitable compound? We are making initial enquiries to Oasis, Eurovillage, al bustan and al rushaid.
No response from any as yet.

Also, we are deliberating over whether we should fly back to the UK close when our child is due. Or are the Saudi hospitals of an equivalent ??

Thanks,

Gaelic
