Hi,

when settling in a new country, working parents are mostly concerned about finding child care services for their children.

What can you share with us about the child care system in Stuttgart ?

How much is daycare in Stuttgart?

Is the staff qualified at these daycare centers?

What are the usual opening hours?

Do they provide other services at the daycare center?

Any daycare center in Stuttgart you would like to recommend to other expats? What makes them special?

Thank you for participating! :)

Hello Armand,
Though my post is not a solution to your query, its a question in fact as I am going to come over to Germany in the next couple of months and I am trying hard to get a KinderKrippe for my 15 month old baby girl near Schwieberdingen,Germany.
If you come across any info on the same,do let me know

Thanks!

Hello Armand,
Though no one replied to my query above,I was able to get some details from the internet and from my business contacts.
Yes day care centers are available. The answers to your questions are as below.
What can you share with us about the child care system in Stuttgart ?-From Timings to fee per month

How much is daycare in Stuttgart?-Anywhere from 150 Euro to 900 Euro.

Is the staff qualified at these daycare centers?- From the emails I had received, them seem to be qualified. But I will definitely check it out once I land in Germany.Till then I  cannot be sure of it

What are the usual opening hours?-Most of them operate only till noon. But with wider search you can get some operating for 10 hours a day.

Do they provide other services at the daycare center?-Playtime,Story time etc.Concerning Food, most of them offer 3 meals a day. Some 1,some none

Any daycare center in Stuttgart you would like to recommend to other expats? What makes them special?-This I would do once I land in Stuttgart as I have a selected few day care centers in mind and I would go to check them out in January

I hope the above details are sufficient for a start..But the most important thing is getting a place in the center and one has to book ahead since it is very difficult to find centers with lots of free spaces.

All the best to all those dad's and mom's out there....there is hope :-)

Hi Ammu's Mom

have you got any good daycare or playgroup in Stuttgart as I am moving there with my daughter it will be much helpful for me. are they total German speaking or bilingual (English/German) daycares or playgroups?

beppi

All kindergardens and daycare centres in Germany are governmentally controlled, personnel is well-trained and licensed, facilities are well-equipped and safe and everything is of pretty good standard.
So far the good news, BUT:
There is (except in some areas of Eastern Germany - a leftover from socialist times!) a huge lack of places and waitlists are long, especially in the (cheaper, because subsidized) community-run centres and for under-3-year-olds.
Bilingual centres are generally private (thus cost more).
We're also searching for a space, so send me a message if you need more information, or links to specific centres.

Yes,currently I have enrolled my daughter in a private kindergarten.
I am not sure of the availability of free places now,but it was there till the end of Feb 2012.
Still I can give you some links which would be of help to you.
There are some bilingual KGs in Stuttgart but they are expensive.

Also you may get places in the Katholische and evangelical church run KGs.
Let me know in case you need further info.
Best regards,
