If you want to get more details about understand all this, sure we can discuss this.
So you're saying King Abdullah is a hypocrite??? Hope you're using a VPN lol
And, second point, you're indicating you are an expert regarding Islam and how it's practiced worldwide while I have very little knowledge ('obviously')?
So if this is your stance, how can there be any discussion (means an exchange of ideas), since you're an expert and I know so little? It's more like you would consider this a teacher-student relationship? I think not.

Look for girl coming from a standard family
And get married. Dating is very dengerous here ( can cause final exit )
For the fact I have a Someone who I date
But at the same time I'm doing my best to end it up into marriage.
This was for the singles
For the married people and their wife/husband is not here I have no idea as to what they can do.
So you tell people to get married and yet YOU are sneaking around dating?
Besides, isn't marrying someone a rather extreme way to get to know them? That's what DATING is for. THEN marriage. Not here, of course... but in the rest of the world

Seriously, I don't understand what you want to prove..
What if I argue with Neil Armstrong as to how moon looks.. you're into similar type of arguement.
To argue on sensitive topics, one should have comprehensive knowledge of the subject rather than observations and experiences by few people one knows. This rule goes for all of us.
Looks as if you have made up your mind that you're "Always Right"
Thumbs up (y)

This post can be treated as a message as well as caution! :-)

I never said you didn't know much--but you've condescendingly said it several times to me. How does this transfer to me always thinking I'm right? Seems to me it's the other way around.
Also, you've made statements (KAUST is hypocrisy) which you don't explain when I ask you to.
And last but not least, you've just compared yourself to Neil Armstrong!
I think this is as good a place as any for me to stop. Enjoy your superiority

Thanks, really appreciate that
In all Islam countries, people dont practise Islam well...
In those countries, most people say that we are Muslims but they dont fast in Ramadan or they are against the head scarf of women or they dont pray five times a day...
So looking Muslims countries and comparing them with each other and saying that one is different in the way of practising Islam than the others doesnt help you understand Islam...
If you want to learn Islam, dont look at the lives of people in Muslim countries, just read the Quran and take good examples from the Hadiths... Thats all I think..
I agree with pkmusd and gokhanTheConqueror.
I am a little suprised to see all the ink spent on a concept which is fairly easy to comprehend and is reality!
Muslims in general do not believe in free mixing as Islam does not permit it.
Some Muslim countries try to impose this restriction through legislation, and some Muslim countries dont. It is as simple as this!
well, what is Islam and what people have fallow is really big thing to talk about .
But i know this , " people want what they cant have "
Yeah londoner1 and gokhan, thats what i was trying to explain.
But again some people have to argue irrespective of knowledge they posses about the subject in discussion.
@hitch: yes its big thing but again principles of islam are the same now your contry follows it or not or you folow it or not is someother thing.

Hahahaha!
dude is just going on and on and on without contributing a damn thing
Every month or two, someone comes and comments "Oh yes. Dating does happen here but you need to be careful"... No one notices that this has been written 1 million times before in the same thread.
This thread, I guess, is a constant source of excitement for many.
Lol legend yeh ur right. I dunno things against the norm ( at least Saudi norms) always seems intriguing even if repeated so many times. I guess u got to see it to believe it and maybe then the excitement will wear down
pkmusd wrote:But again some people have to argue irrespective of knowledge they posses about the subject in discussion.
And some people think they know everything (while ignoring the difficult questions: ie. if Kaust is 'hypocrasy,' as he said, is he therefore saying King Abdullah is a hypocrite?).
My objection to all of this is that I don't think Saudi Arabia is the only country that practices Islam correctly, irrespective of somebody's (Neil Armstrong?) insistence that it is.
that's because they take their religion for granted, however, there are some of us who are converts who do practice, meaning we do study our religion, we know what the rules are and follow them, we do pray 5 times a day, we do fast Ramadan and other chances that we get, we are involved in dawah, and we try to help out our sisters when possible, visiting when sick etc, organizing halaqas, potlucks etc...and we would love to have the opportunity to come to a better environment than where our passport determines to raise our children (i.e. i have 3 daughters which you can interpret as being a big responsibility on me to raise well.) Therefore, I cannot just leave them to chance in America.
what does this have to do with dating in saudi.
come on
someone obviously strayed from the topic but that's in response to gokentheconquerors post up above...and if you follow the posts you can see how it has progressed to that...just sayin
for example, what it has to do with dating in saudi is that people are suggesting to be careful and others are complaining that they don't like the rules, so it was then suggested then if you don't like the rules you can leave because no one is forcing you to stay in saudi and there are many people who would love to be in saudi and happy to follow the rules...that's the point
the point is
man up and woman up, and take it to another thread, or make another thread, and keep this one on topic
a page and a half of off topic that 3 or 4 members contributed to is crazy. i know exactly how it happened. but it went on for almost 6 pages without it happening. and no, most people dont follow the rules, they just give an outward appearance they do.
ever been to saudi?
yes, actually i just spent one month in saudi and am planning on returning when i finish school in december
a whole month huh.
dating in saudi has and always will happen. tis a truth.
arranged marriages are stupid, and statistically idiotic
well, it is on topic...people asked how can they date and it was suggested that you should be careful then it was suggested if you don't want to follow the rules then leave and stop trying to corrupt the society ie the conservative environment that we want to live in in Saudi Arabia....SO for the topic: YOU SHOULD NOT DATE WHILE YOU ARE IN SAUDI ARABIA
im american.
no shit sherlock.

Give us statistics and then we learn how idiotic it is...
Not caring to find the articles i saw last year. statistics in companies with arranged marriages measuring happiness and marriage longevity were significantly lower when compared to choice based

Aw come on, Armand! It's a healthy exchange of ideas! Let it die of it's own accord (only to resurrected in a couple months when, as said earlier, somebody comes across 'Dating' and is WOOOOOOOOOOOoo! .. DATING!)
In my view, this thread should be closed, as this is not a discussion any more. Some people are taking it to Islam who have not the hell of the idea what is it all about and some people are taking ti to Saudis.
to avoid much of dispute, this thread should be closed.
@pkmusd : Yes, and see how closing the thread in itself has become a discussion here.
This thread is of not much use now. Let the new expats coming to Saudia start a thread on 'dating' again. I feel if this thread is kept open they will easily comment on it every now and then.
so after 7.5 pages of discussing dating in saudi, who is still creeping?
