Can anyone recommend me a stay out yaya ?

Post new topic

hichameh

Hi,

We moved two months ago in Makati and we're looking for a stay out yaya (3-4 times a week). Anyone can recommend me someone ? We have a little boy that's now 20 months.

Thanks,

Hichame

Hi and welcome on board Hichame!

Maybe you should be posting an advert in the accommodation section of Manila classifieds.
It might be helpful ;)

Hi,

I would like to have a yaya that's referred from someone. Having someone taking care by someone that nobody knows is not what i had in mind :)

Thanks for your reply !

My tip is that be wary of help that come from agencies. For all the convenience and security that these manpower agencies promise, most fall short based on personal experience and local news.

Most of these agencies just go through the motions of getting NBI Clearances, and permits but I doubt if they really do a background check / investigate and track feedback on their resources.  I've heard of househelp / drivers that have stolen / AWOL their employers and all the agency does is to put them back into the pool. I'm not saying this is what happens for all but I'd rather go for a personal recommendation from someone who already has firsthand experience with potential employee you will be letting in very close to your personal lives.

we'll check for personal referrals for you. Please PM me your preferences.

I think you can ask from neighborhood's current babysitter. And when you are recruiting you can ask the applicant to provide background check certificate, that means a police clearance certificate and and NBI certificate, you will be on a right track by doing that. And when you hired one you have to follow the labor code in the Philippines, that means you have to contribute and pay  to her SSS and Philhealth monthly remittance. Hope this will help you.

I am aCanadian architect living in Las Pinas - I have a cleaner who has a daughter who is 13. I have found this lady to be trust worthy, honest and extremely competent.

I leave on trips and she has the keys to my condo and everything is always right when i return.

But I am not sure she is willing to travel to Makati.

Let me know if you want me to aska nd then you can talk to her yourself.

goodluck

Sir,
May i ask you how much would be the salary ? and could you please tell me where were you in Makati?

FilAmericanMom

The original post was almost 2 years ago. I wonder whether the poster was able to find a stay out yaya willing to work in Makati. I think one would be hardpressed to find one.

First of all, what yaya would want to go home to and from Makati every day. How many low-income folks have their home in Makati? It's not like she lives next door.  If she goes home in Quezon City, she'll probably spend 60-100 or more pesos a day for public commute alone to get into Makati. If your house is far from the entrance of the subdivision, she'd have to take a tricycle or taxi or shuttle just to get to your place and to go home.

Even if you let her off by 6pm, the poor girl would probably be tired by the time she gets home. And she might have to wake up very early to get to Makati by 7am or earlier. If she lacks sleep, she could be grumpy or sleepy and uncoordinated and could catch an illness, which is not good for your kid.

Weather conditions should be also considered. Will she be able to  go to work if major highways are flooded / impassable? If she's at work, and then it starts raining heavily, would you let her stay the night? Hopefully, you're kind enough to offer her staying in. Many have lost lives wading through flood waters during the night, i.e. fallen into manholes, held up, diseases like leptospirosis, etc.

If you don't need her for a week, say the entire family is going on a vacation and she's not invited, will you still give her a wage for those days she will not come in? Or would you deduct that from a monthly wage?

Better to have a stay in yaya. She'll bond better with your kids.

I totally agree, I know for a fact this is true. NBI clearance and all the others mean nothing in a country where a few extra hundred pesos and the right contact gets you the documents you need.
