can anyone help me...I want to watch British tv online, but because I am not in the UK, it doesn't let me connect...I have heard there are free vpns, are they any good?

this is a good one;
UKTVAccess, I've been using it for almost a year, it's very reliable :) very small price but it's worth it. the free ones have no technical support and are mostly a pain.

I've been using OnlineTvRecorder.com when being abroad. They record British, American and German TV programmes, and make it available for download. For 60 (Euro) Cents a month, you can select a maximum of 120 shows to download, plus an additional Cent for each 100 MBytes of download volume. It's all pay as you go, no contract, no subscription, so you never pay more than you want to.

does anyone know if you can get British sky reception in Cairo? I had a sky dish set up in Germany which worked through my sky account in the UK, but i am not sure if you can pick it up here.
I know i will have to bring my decoder box, but dont want to go to the trouble if someone knows it is not worth it..

Hi

I've been using Overplay for the last year. (overplay.net)
It works fine but it depends on your internet speed.

The best thing is to download programs from BBC iPlayer rather than watching it live.
It also worked  fine for me by streaming from the iplayer.

Live TV can be slow,  I’ve never been lucky. I actually tried a few times and never tried again.
When you watch it live, if there are many people around the world connected then it will be slow. For example you will find hard to watch national football live.

I've also watched 4od. It worked.

I've never tried other channels

It's about £6/months. It varies because you pay in USD. The good thing is you can pay via paypal so you don't have to give your credit card details and  can stop paying just by cancelling you payment agreement in paypal.

FYI, my internet connection is about 2MB/s, quite slow.

Good luck

We use Expat Shield which markets itself as a internet security tool. We only launch it when we want to watch tv and close it afterward. It can take a while to get the hang of using it, but it is free.

The internet speed doesn't help me

Have you tried searching Google for UK VPN??
I guess that's what you are looking for.
Proxy servers could have been another option but they are so inconsistent with their speed and services that you tend to look out for other options..
