is that true?

hi all

this blog seems very helpful with friendly people on it.

my fiance and i would like to move to namibia for a year, to give it a try. she is namibian born and holds a german and south african passport. she has her own business in south africa, but has lots of  namibian clients. she wants to set up shop in namibia too.

i have a south african passport. i work abroad and have no need to work in namibia.

by the time we want to move, we will already be married.

my understanding is that she can work and settle in namibia without much hassle and i will need a multiple entry visa for that year. is that true? or am i missing something?

regards

Harmonie

Hi There,

Congrats on your upcomming wedding.

Yes it seems correct. I am not a Immigration officer, but have learnt how this is done here.

See the previous reply regarding the Emce Bouwer's contact who can help you with the Immigration papers, but surely you would not need it, as she is located here in Windhoek.

Somehow documents are handled quicker at Consulates than here in Namibia's Immigration Offices. So get your documents in order before you come here.

Even if you are married in RSA or Germany,-take the Marriage Certificate to the Namibian Consulate who in return can 'prove' you are "Domicile" by paper stuck into your passport. It is proof that you are then legally Married to a Namibian Citizen,(which means you have the right to abode/live and work in Namibia) and you can then obtain a multiple entry visa to travel freely accross the borders.
