Buckle up !

It is amazing how fast drivers in Libya got used to what is a reflex to westerners: buckling the seat belt...

It took some ads on local papers, a bunch of cops warning about the fine for 2 weeks, and now almost everybody is buckled up !

Didn't see any security campaign in Europe as efficient as this one here :-)

I used to recon expats by the sealt belt... Not anymore...

But they still don't buckle up in the back seat....

Most people don't realise that at only 60km/hr, a 30kg child not strapped in on the back seat will have sufficient kinetic energy when thrown forward during a collision, to kill a front seat passenger or driver.

I think seatbelt usage has gone down quite a bit since the campaign and ticketing stopped.  I also still see a lot of airbags crawling around the front dash and people's laps.

Nothing ceases to amaze me anymore when one of these idiots gets behind a steering wheel
