There is one in Al-Hassa (Hofuf)which called AlQarah mountain... it is not a mountain as much as it is a hill.

I heard of Al Ula... And saw some photos of that place and it is a beauty! This is where the elephant rock is at, I tried to go there but its to expensive if its gonna be me. A group of 10 and above people will be a cheap deal for a travel agent to arrange a trip there.

Clasijuls

Ok then we should get a plan and go ..what do you think madphotographer.
Great will be fun and we can get some good shooting going.

Clasijuls

axa, thanks I couldnt remeber the name yes that is the place .
I think it should be stunning in winter

As for Al Ula, I went there with my friends and it was awesome. It was worth it and great to go with a group.

I have three of my friends that are up for a trip to Mada'in Saleh or Al Ula

For Al Qarah mountain, it is good to visit almost yearlong. I can show you guys around BUT you have to tell me in advance so I can free my schedule. THIS is an invitation for every one not specifically to you. It is my hometown and I love showing it to everyone

Clasijuls

Great I will, lets talk soon .And make some plans .

The AlQara in Hofuf are not mountains but caves on which the famous 1,001 nights tale of Ali Baba & the 40 thieves was suppsoed to woven around.

Mountain ranges in KSA are mainly in Taif and Abha.

Clasijuls

Thanks musicman, are the caves worth visiting ?
Sounds like a great op to me

The caves are worth visiting. I never seen someone who visited and didn't love it. It is not just the caves it is the whole area.

If you are considering coming, a whole day would be suggested to really have the full experience to cross the area from you checklist.

musicman

Its absolutely worth visiting. here are some pics we took during one of our visits to Jabal Qara caves some years back:-

@Clasi & Axa:

We should have a group visit to these places specialy at Al Oula! Let me know... :):):)

musicman

@Clasijuls since you are living in Jubail it would be much easier for you to get there to Hofuf and visit the caves. We usually drive down to AlKhobar anbd Jubail during the Eid holidays but this year we have not planned to visit.

RedGoblin

@Clasijuls: check out the other ranges in saudia arabia. another member had posted some pics..  https://www.expat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=120139#523374
