hello~
other than Apple Store, any place sell it?

Jiepay

the apple store in Mu does not actually sell the iPhone. You must go to an Orange shop; they are the exclusive iPhone sellers here orange.mu/iphone

Emtel will also be selling the newest iPhone soon as well as Orange.  But the Orange iPhone will be a locked phone and Emtel"s will not be locked.  I have been told that the new iPhone is available but forgot where they told me it's for sale.  They told me the price for the 32GB is Rs. 32,000.00!  The best deal in on eBay and when it arrives at customs, you have to have an import license for the phone.

I'm typing from my iPhone 4s. Currently, the iphone 4s has issues on the orange network network and the phone loses service. It works perfectly with that of Emtel who have already started selling the phone. People from Mauritius Telecom must get this sorted out quickly or they will lose customers for sure!

Dear Jim,
Only for second hand phone you need an import permit. but for new phone no import permit needed

Import license is applicable only if you are importing more than two phones.

Thanks for the info.  All I know is my wife's cousin bought one on eBay and when he went to customs, they told him to come back with an import license.  The iPhone was second hand.

I guess for second hand too then.better get yourself a single brand new phone to avoid all the fuss.

Yep you can definitely buy them at Emtel for Rs36,000.  My Blackberry died and I dediced to look at the iphone 4S, Orange advised they are not taking delivery of them until February and I needed a new phone now so changed to Emtel even though it meant getting a new number which was a negative for me.  The iphone 4S is my first apple product and I absolutely love it.

Hi there,

I bought my iPhone 4S-16GB sim free from the online apple store for 599Euros + free postage, (that is an equivalent of 24,000Rs).

In Orange shops/ Mauritius telecom they sell the 16GB iPhone 4S for 28,000Rs. I was in an Orange shop earlier today (8th Jan) and they said that they expect a delivery of iPhone 4s sometime in the next week or two.

Hi Mariam

Happy New Year.

When you order on line do you have to pay duty when it arrives in Mauritius? I would have thought so.

We went to Orange in PL and they said no Orange stores in Mauritius will have the 4S till February, they are selling the Ipone 4 on a special deal.  I misquoted the amount we paid above - it was actually 31,000, and the Emtel one is not locked.

I still love mine, I have never loved a phone before :)

I got mine (4s, White) for 19800 MUR through a friend of mine who is working there in US.

How is 'Siri' working? Do you guys like it? Siri can't really handle my accent :( though it answered many. The one I most like was when asked "Is blackberry the best mobile in the world?''. It answered ''you are kidding, right? '' :)

Good day!

Hey J,

Hope you had a good time over the holidays. :)

i actually ordered the iPhone 4s and posted it to Dublin while i was there for Christmas holidays and then when i left the airport i claimed the VAT back. Did the same thing over here just before i left Mauritius for Dublin, bought an iPad and claimed the VAT back at the airport..at least in Mauritius they give the VAT back in cash while in Dublin you have to wait a bit longer before they transfer it to a credit card of your choice..

i have yet to use siri, sounds like fun...
