Birth in the Netherlands?

I was wondering if anyone has given birth in the Netherlands?  What is it like?  I'm thinking about a homebirth but want to know if they sew you up and stuff.  Do they do C-sections-like if they're necessary? I've heard the mortality rate of infants is high here.  Any and all information would be helpful.

thanks

I have, twice, and though I did it both times in the hospital, I know plenty of people who've given birth at home without drama. C-sections are only given (by ob-gyns) if really necessary, and the midwives are fantastic. I wrote an article on my blog about my experiences (http://web.me.com/k.swaak/Kopje_koffie, … he_NL.html) but don't let it scare you off ~ it was written to be entertaining and funny, though I can promise you that every single thing in it actually happened to me. Stay open minded and it can be a great experience! Good luck.
