Can anyone help us on car Insurance, IO know you have to get one thats not worth the paper its written on, but I have to give our company car back in the next 2 months, so will have to buy our own, we all know how bad the standard of driving is out here, so I don't want to spend 30,000 LYD on the wifes prefered choice of a Hyundai sante fey to have some one crash into us and we lose everything, so can you get proper insurance for your car out here ?

I've heard of a policy (which costs around LYD 500 a year) which is apparently worth taking out and it pays upon a claim. Will try and get more info.

Thanks for the info Sandman6, that is worth doing as no one can afford to throw cash away if your pride and joy got wrecked

Hi Geoff

Have u got the insurance you were looking for.
I am also buying a new car by the end of the month and would like to see how we can buy a comprehensive insurance here.
Any information/advice related to car insurance companies in tripoli is welcome.

Hi Waqas,
We never got round to getting insurance, but 3 cars have been stolen from out side Waha Oil Company in the last week, my friends Chevrolet Optima which turns out to be one of the easiest cars to steal, so I will continue the search

You are talking about Imran's car? That was really unfortunate incident.
So u r driving car without insurance for time being?
it gives me jitters when i think of driving car here without insurance
I am also kooking around and will let u know if i come around something workable.

Gents you can buy comprehensive car insurance without much hassle. Premium computes around 4-5% of declared car value, payable in advance for the year.

I had a minor accident claim at the beginning of the year and it was settled promptly without any hassle.
