Just read a couple more and had a good chuckle at his dry humour.
I wonder if it's a British thing to find this sort of thing amusing or if I've been round too many sheep farms at night.
However, I'm not finding Telkomsel funny at the moment.
I've been with them for a while and find their service, both phone and mobile internet, to be pretty much as advertised and reliable; however, they've started sending about 3 million stupid advertising SMS messages every hour and it's becoming a real pain.
I keep having to stop my gay moped to check the message as big ben chimes to inform me of its arrival.
When I'm talking to people, the large bell peals so I get out my phone in the expectation of some command from my wife only to find I've been invited to take part in some utter crap deal that gives me so many 'free' SMS messages as long as I pay a fee.
I've even been invited to a fashion event - like I care about fashion whilst I walk around in my sandals, shorts and singlets.
I've tried blocking them but they won't block.
I've tried sending a 'stop' request, using traditional Anglo Saxon (The second word is "OFF") but you can't reply to these massages and finally, I've just returned from the Telkom building in BSD where I was politely informed there was sod all they could do but they were also pissed off with all the crap.
I asked for the contact number but was informed they didn't have a phone (What - Telkom don't have a phone? Pull the other one, it's got bells on)
Next is either a trip to South Jakarta, find an email address or try another provider and see if they send the same total crap to their customers.
The positive side? The girl in the office was quite pretty and there were goats to look at on the road home.
/rant.
I have a whole bunch of photos to upload and I'll try to do so ASAP and not post any more rants.

Just so you know, you sleep with one and eat the other. Try not to confuse the two.
"Just so you know, you sleep with one and eat the other."
OK fine, but which is which?
More photos coming soon.
I've been quite busy so not much time and photobucket is a real pain now they've ïmproved" it to the point where it's really hard to use.
I'll try to post later.
"More photos coming soon..."
I hope some are of you with your lamb or goat!
Nothing too X rated Fred.
Breaking news - big drug bust not all that far from my house.
Photos from inside crime scene coming up.
The outside was a hive of activity.
Cops and army all over the place. The police and the army were one entity up to about 14 years ago and they still commonly work together.
Inside the place was fun.
The guy had hidden drugs in the ceilings and all over the place.
The press were also allowed inside.
They had their vans
There is one constant in Indonesia - where ever there's a crowd, there's someone selling food.
A very captivating thread, and I like the humour. Thanks, mas Fred.
I'm not comfortable with taking candid photos yet. But you have good eyes (and quick hands .
Come to think of it, interesting that anyone can 'join' in a police sting operation here...you also can take pictures or record videos inside a court room, etc. I don't think that's the case in other countries, or is it?
Do the police always let the public photograph their work?

That's really none of my business. Don't ask, don't tell.
HaileyinHongKong wrote:Do the police always let the public .
Not as a rule.
Press commonly get inside crime scenes but I dropped lucky on this one. I was talking to some people and one turned out to be a policeman.
I have a great dislike of drugs and what evil they do to people so I have to admit to being a little happy this factory is being destroyed and the owner taken off the streets.
"That's really none of my business. Don't ask, don't tell."
That a girl Hailey!
Hey Fred...we watched this on TV One news late yesterday afternoon and noted the bule being dragged off in hand cuffs.
Need a good lawyer?
Great photos Fred!
Was I really on the news or was that a joke as bad as one of mine?
Only one bule there so it's possible
If so, that would bring my national TV appearances up to four.
A short video of the drug factory

Fred, were you undercover in your sheeps clothing when you got first hand pics of this drugs bust?
I'm wandering into Jakarta tomorrow morning.
I'm starting in Cipete Ultara and working my way up to Guntur.
Not been to these places before so I'm hoping to get some good photos.
Guys sorting out rubbish.
while the truck does its rounds
Welcome to Indonesia. This is why roads are so dangerous.
and again
The very fact you are able to play chess, suggests reasonable intelligence. That means Indonesia is wasting talent.
These guys live in a rubbish dump. Keen followers of this thread may remember a post from a couple of years ago from the same place but the massive pile of rubbish has gone.
The reason it went? - Easy, cash moved in so the illegal village went away. Some builder is building a new estate and no one wants a dump next door.
The local kids were having a good time
Anyway, must dash as I have to visit the toilet.....or maybe I'll wait a while.
A small, local school.
Notice the classroom doors are open, even when the school is closed.
A classroom
I found a place that renovates old Fiats. I'm unsure why anyone would want to but they do anyway.
Again, the bathroom/toilet could use a little upgrading.

As a young boy, lego, puzzles, toy cars, bikes were the play time kit i played with.. to see this young kid play with a motorbike...its not fair
No...on a serious note - Is it b'cos the kids don't have any toys to play with ? or is this young boy running errands locally?
but yeah a bit worrying he has a younger toddler in the front and neither have a crash helmet.

I agree - there are a lot of talented people like this in such countries. I'm guessing unless they are sponsored, sadly, their options are limited.

I totally agree on this too, Fiats are a pile of kuk - but this again shows talent in this country where these guys can turn rusty metal plus nuts and bolts into something spectacular. I'm almost certain these dudes probably don't have a high education background either - so they deserve a huge pat on the back
May be they should renovate VW beetles - these are classic cars worth renovating
You have to be a bit careful of taxis here.
Blue bird are usually safe and don't mess about but you get the odd bad one.
This twit could see my GPS but still tried goong in circles.
I've already sent his picture to blue bird.
EDIT - Blue bird, being the top quality, professional company they are, called me within an hour to sort out what was what.
That's quality customer service.
FIAT...Fix It Again Tony.

You can say that again. Today, I've been to where this was filmed.

I've had a chat to Imam (Nice guy) and a good look around the place.
Fred, thats one of the BBC productions I hadnt seen yet, so a million thanks for the link.
As usual with anything the BBC does, its excellent.
In the past 10 years theyve been here on Bali several times and one of their senior producers who is a good friend ended up long term leasing herself a house. Too bad shes so damn busy that she seldom gets to enjoy it.
I can only imagine that meeting Pak Imam was most interesting in the least. I can only imagine that meeting Wilbur, the London bin man, would also be a real pleasure.
Without proselytizing, the BBC always seems to get its message across loud and clear.
Suksama lagi Fred!
Wow nice posting

The BBC have made a ball bouncingly great program in this one.
I know this sort of place so I could see the content was accurate.
I confirmed this by visiting the charity in the film and the area. I was extremely lucky as I saw the motortrike in the film and stopped the taxi there.
The first bloke I spoke to was looking for Pak Imam so we walked to his house.
He's moved from the shack you saw in the first part but he's hardly in a palace. A two room unit with a flood defence over the front door but it doesn't work in wet season.
After a long conversation (In my best but still crappy Indonesian), I went for a wander with my camera.
Just as a side note - I recorded a video message for Wilbur from Pak Imam. I'll send that as soon as I edit it and dub English over it.

I see what the term means when they say "running around like a headless chicken"

He was playing silly buggers from the moment I got into the taxi so I made it clear I knew where I wanted to go and made sure he saw the GPS but he still went the wrong way from the start.
I pointed this out as soon as he took the wrong road but he still tried to mess around.
Eventually, I used my best 'Paddington bear' angry voice and gave the sod instructions. As soon as we were back on a main road, I ordered (yes - ordered) him to stop and got out.
I toyed with the idea of not paying but that would have left me in the wrong as well so I paid up the exact amount on the meter.
