I have been offered job with SIRTE on rotational basis (28/28) over in Brega can anybody offer me advice on what life is like over there and is the Libyan company as good they're offer as I got stung when I went to Saudi as they didnt honour the contract and dont want to make same mistake this time.

Hmmmm....a company who uses Yahoo or Hotmail for it's communications?

I have a friend works at Waha, same sort of deal. Took him a while to get paid initially but seems better now. He's still fighting them over accommodation, company vehicle etc and this seems to be the way with all the NOC's.

What is a NOC?

Hi All,
I am an ex pat from Wales UK and work for Waha, as sandman has already commented, it took us 2 months to get paid, but now we get paid on a regular basis, so it's a case of if you can afford to be without cash for a couple of months, it's just the Libyans are not the best at organising things, lovely people, very friendly and 99% are very helpful and honest, just no good at sorting things out fast, but once you get used to the slacker pase of life you do get used to it, but very very frustrating at first

Sounds very much like Saudi then when each mont I had different salary and had to keep going to / from HR to get it sorted out. Thanks for the advice I think its much the same in all Arab countries where little things like salary , welfare , social needs are not as important to them. I'm sure it will work out for me and 1 guy I know worked for them for over 20 years and said they were honourable company and pretty relaible. If I find anything else when I'm there ( ince visa , work permit sorted ( maybe this year ?) I will post on site.

Once you get paid here, you will get it every month no probs, it's just getting that initial payment. Trying to get repairs done at Regatta where we live is still a joke, if they turn up they do half a job, then say we will be back in 10 minutes, then you don't see them for days, as you say, it does seem that no one cares about our welfare, but if they want people to start staying, they need to sort things out ASAP
Cheers
Geoff
