Do you vote here? To have the right to vote, you must be Egyptian, and in your profile it is written YOU ARE DUTCH! Or this was to impress the girls in the site? :unsure

SAMXIII

i am assuming here she has egyptian origins and a dual nationality probably makes sense right :) and i dont think someone would actually change his nationality just to impress people assume the best in people valibilic unitl proven otherwise :)

Geely

This is a vote compass: masr.bosala.org (it is also "sponsored" by Radio Nederland Wereldomroep).

Of course i wouldn't say that to impress the girls i`m not CRAZY! I have two nationalities(half Egyptian/half dutch) and by the way there many are foreigners who have an Egyptian nationality :D

Hey thanks Geely it`s very helpful :D

LiLyyolyz

if u want to vote for Islamist ,choose "freedom and justice" party ,if u want liberals vote for Egyptians bloc

here is a list of parties
english.ahram.org.eg/Elections2011/Political-Parties/33/104/0.aspx

LiLyyolyz

the elections will be for 2 dayz ,u still have a chance to vote 2morrow :)

mprier

I think those websites could help you. Be sure there's not only two political party as said by LiLyyolyz, it's a little bit more open than it. But also less  clear ....

http://egypt.electionnaire.com/http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/intera … 68402.html

Good luck in ur choice.

By the way, valibilic is not completely wrong on the nationality to impress but this is another issue not te be discussed here... :P

The Egyptian

The Egyptian Bloc sucks big time ...... If you want to go liberal, El Adl (Justice Party) can be your choice. Not to be confused with Freedom and Justice Party.

Thanks Lilyyolysz!:D

SAMXIII

the problem with teh egyptian bloc or mass is that alot of assoiciated parties that had joined it actually quit it cuz they had some of previous regime's candidates which was unacceptable to some parties i think personally at this time egypt needs a moderatly liberal party and a capitalist socialist system to be able to fix things but again its a personal choice just thought i'd share my opinion :) and lets hope for the best and i hope things work out in the favor of egypt in the end :)

The Egyptian

May the best men/women/parties win ...... FOR EGYPT ......

Thank God I sellected Muslim BrotherHood (Ikhwan), and am sure 100% that we will win inshAllah

ArvaritA

inshaaallaaaaaah! im only worried about the vote boxes, because your election will end in 2 months nearly and till then, it would be very easy to replace the actual votes with fake ones. in turkey, voting ends in the same day and we get the result in the same day, so everything is very safe..

semsema135

did you select Muslim Brotherhood group???? that is strange

Don't know The Egyptian, they will be very conservative, I respect them, but I don't want this country to be very conservative, so u can tell me why should i choose them?

I believe you are confusing the MB for the Salafists or the Jihadists (Al Gama3a El Islamiya) .....

The MB - or more precisely, the F&J Party - are not very conservative as you may think.

I chose them for the following reasons

1- Principles : These people have principles and no matter what it costs them. Remember that for decades they have been the only sizable voice of opposition to Mubarak/NDP regime. There assets were confiscated, they were detained for years and decades on end without trial, they were tortured .....etc. Where were most of the current parties when Mubarak/NDP were in charge? They were sucking up to the regime !!

2- Technocracy : The MB is full of experts in every field. They are not just "Sheikhs" with head-covering gear ! ... They are doctors, engineers, university professors .....etc. I am all for technocracy ....

3- These people are successful business owners and have never resorted to corruption no matter what and I believe their plans include fighting corruption which is eating up our whole country like termites.

Last but not least, I don't want extremely conservative government, yet I don't want an extremely liberal government.

Some liberal parties are liberal extremists and their prime goal is to fight Islamists !!! ... Although liberalism dictates that you live and let live !

Also let's agree that should we agree or disagree in our political beliefs, however we have to agree to whomever the fair elections brought to power ...... Like it or not, be for it or against it, but the voice of people is the ultimate decision. Some people started to ridicule the MB voters and bully them calling them ignorant, uneducated ...etc. and that they don't deserve to vote !!!

I am sorry but we have to take the political game fair and square. I for one am against Amr Hamzawy for instance, but he is a fair opponent and I respect him very much ....  unlike some others !

semsema135

Actually and frankly I don't redicule the MB voters,in contrary I do respect them and I know that MB were tortured and detained for decades as u have said above.Furthermore,I know that MB are very well educated, but am afraid coz of their policy, I don't want this country to be like Saudi Arabia, and I know that MB stated that it is gonna be a civil state, however am not sure if it is gonna be a civil state or not if they judged the country

Am just negotiating that with you because I didn't vote yet, am living in giza, so I will vote on 14th of december.

And am confused between Freedom and Justice Party & Elwasat Party &Egyptian Bloc party, as I do respect Naguib sawiras but I don't trust him to judge the country.

As I respect your way of thinking, but can u let me know your concern about Egyptian bloc party ,also elwasat party is nice, Sorry for asking alot but am alil bit confused

P.S: Actually am afraid from MB princples:S

Have a nice day and thanks for the explanation;)
c u soon

The Egyptian

Again, you are confusing the MB with the Salafists ...... MB's plan does not include becoming Saudi Arabia #2

The Bloc has committed political suicide several times so far at the hands of Sawiras and his really nice press releases .....

If you want to go liberal I'd recommend El Adl Party ....

What principles are you afraid of ?

semsema135

Actually I have read the program of fair and justice party, and it is really nice, as they will concentrate to enhance the arabic language here and we need that now, but am not sure that they r gonna treat us in a real islamic way, as sometimes their beliefs are odd and not related to Islam at all, I know that not all of MB are bad, and they r very well educated, but alot of them are not that nice

For ur information, alot of ppl selected fair and justice party because they liked their program, and am not against them, or against MB, but am not sure if it is the right choice or not

Anyway I respect your opinion and am gonna think more before choosing any party:)

Have a nice day dude

semsema135 wrote:

example and/or evidence please?? Because hearsay is not something we should base our choices on

mprier

I read quickly a part of the MB program, it looks fine especially in terms of development of the countries. But as a european, I don't like when religion is mix with politics, but we're not in Europe.
they just write that they will review on the page 25 (FJP program)

"beginning with a review of the CEDAW " (Cedaw)

I know it's not really a text that many countries approved but it's weird to say they'll review it.

semsema135

Ahmed, i don't have any evidence against them, it is just from the media, don't know if my thoughts are correct or not

Mprier, they won't mix between the religion and politics, as they said that it is gonna be a civil state, which is nice, they will just try to enhance alot of things, I do really like their program but am afraid coz of what I have heard about them, however I don't trust the media as I don't have the evidences that they r bad

Also am not sure if they will apply the democracy here or not:S:S

mprier

They will have to apply democracy... They don't have the choice. THe problem is how they will apply it ?

Maybe you should also look in the other direction, I mean, there are a lot of parties, I agree this one seems nice, but it's also the one with the most commnunication and most amount of money spent, they're everywhere, let's say they're good in marketing.

Moreover they suffer during the moubarak's era, which is good for their image but if Im wrong the salafi also suffered during this era... But this is another issue.

After make a choice, u have the time

Geely

Try this vote compass: http://www.masr.bosala.org/ or the other one mentioned above

all due respect but is the media really objective?

and why wouldn't you be sure about people of principle who were against unfairness for decades, but you'd trust The Bloc which is full of people who changed their beliefs overnight after February 11th ?

semsema135

I don't even trust Egyptian bloc as I told you, they also have some of previous regime's candidates which are not acceptable and I don't trust naguib sawiras too,and that is why am confused

And by the way, I just wanna ask you about something

When the people were dying in mohamed mahmoud street, why the muslim brotherhood didn't come to protest, am not sure if they are trying to work for the country, or they are just trying to eat from the tart

But in general, I like their program alot and I know that they were detained for decates, so may they will sympathize with the ppl here because they have seen alot and they have spent ages in suffering

Anyway till now they already won, so hope they r gonna do positive things for the country and to apply the democracy here

About the Mohamed Mahmoud, it was a political decision, not a pragmatic one if you may think .....

ArvaritA

i think MB had been smart with not getting involved in the chaos there.

anyway in general, i dont like the idea of being against MB just because they have a religious appearance. and i dont like the idea of "trying so hard to make Egypt look secular" because its not a secular country for God's sake. Egypt has always been a country whose vast majority is muslim. so let's not try to get rid of the islamic face of the country..

justice and freedom for everyone is the only principle here. and islam already offers it.. i wouldnt say MB is the One. yet, i believe they are way better than others

Geely

I don't know why you reply in this topic! You don't live in Egypt and apparently you never been in Egypt!

Are you not happy with the secular government in Turkey?

I find it strange that the only topic about Egypt you are replying in, is about voting!

ArvaritA

and i find it strange why you are attacking me? i've been living among egyptians for many years now.. but still, i never claimed to know everything, im only mentioning my own opinions and my own observations.
of course i will be replying about voting because this is what's happening nowadays in egypt.

secular system in turkey ruined everything, especially before Erdogan came. we had serious ridiculous days when old people at the hospital didnt get their treatments just because they have beard/hejab. and the leaders defended this saying religion should be seperated from every field of life. because this is what secularism brings.
nowadays we are in a much better situation because Erdogan came and brought real justice. anyway, that's not the topic here.. so lets stick to egypt :)
