Hi,

I'm looking on get a bit of advice about transfering money to the UK.

Basically i'm an English EFL teacher working in HCMC with my girlfriend. In Jan/Feb we should have enough my to saved to want to transfer some to our english bank accounts (either HSBC or Natwest)

We both have Vietcom bank accounts and want to send the money back the cheapest way possible.

Any tips from anyone thats had to do this?

Also someone told be that there is likely to be currency devaluation post-Tet, does anyone know if this is likely to happen as obviously it would make sense to transfer before it does.

Thanks,

Ben

I have a HSBC account here and just use the internet banking to send money to my Australian account.

I think if you have account with Vietnamese bank, they will let you send money as long as you have work contract. If not you would have to set up account with HSBC or the likes.

If you have and HSBC account in the UK, you should open one here in VN because transferring money me-to-me account is waive fee. You are just subjected to lose some tiny amount when exchange money from VND to sterling and middle-bank fee
