Buying property in Kuwait

Post new topic

Christine

Hi,

can a foreigner buy property in Kuwait?

If so, is it complicated? What is the process of purchasing a property in Kuwait?

Any tips for buying property, such as a check-list of items to verify ?

Thanks in advance for participating!

WOW... but I'm not surprized... but Kuwaities can go to the US and buy anything they want... including property. I really wish the US would adopt the same policies of other countries citizens in regards to buying properity and imigration and such. I think it's only fair...

Hmm did you check the map Mr. Satcomguy? see the difference and you will understand :)

also if Kuwait allows buying land, the country will be diluted, liquidated like a business.

SCG there are such situations in which the US govt does not give advantage to Kuwait due to the policies in Kuwait. Case in point - taxation.

Kuwait has tax treaties with several countries, to prevent double taxation etc. the US will not sign an agreement with Kuwait because Kuwait does not levy taxes on local businesses as much as it does on foreign businesses.

So yes, there are countervailing checks and balances.

Also, they did allow expats to buy flats a while ago, still, its only for 99 years, and flats go down and new ones come up so fast here its outrageous.

In the end, as expats, we represent foreign investment in our home countries, bringing back our hard earned money to our countries of origin (think of it as miscellaneous revenue), and u can build houses, buy flats, land etc. whatever you wish, back home.

So in the end, why worry? :)

Answer is not yet. I know that Kuwait government finish Legislations (writing and passing laws) regarding this matter but yet need to be approved, so keep watching.

And you that because the US is larger, it makes it fair. Ha ha ha... I think not. I'm just saying that fair trade should be EXACTLY that... FAIR!

So in other words, it would be much like the US??? I don't get your point. Also, lets take South Korea for example. It's the 2nd largest economy in all of Asia. Do you know why? Because anyone can buy property there... oh... and check the map... they are tiny too. Only 50 years ago they where nothing but rice fields and had one of the lowest standards of living... not so anyore. My point: It's good for economic growth. Just saying

I actually work for the US Army here as an Engineer. I get paid in US$ from a US company. The only thing is I don't pay taxes on the first $92,000. But I still pay a lot in taxes... but not to Kuwait, to the US. But I just think that forien policy should be equal.... across the board.
