Hi everyone

I wonder what the internet speed is like in Tripoli. Is there broadband and what is the coverage like, for example if i live in Janjour?

Libya is firmly still in the Stone Age when it comes to the internet. You have 2 options:

ADSL - which requires a phone line. Load of rubbish if you are not close to the exchange (i.e. in Janzour), unless you know someone who can fix you up with a decent line.

WiMax - LTT offer two options, (1) a USB modem, costs 520 D and only any good if you are within 800m of a transmitter. (2) a network modem, which is better than the USB. Costs 620 D. Both options are limited to 10 Gb downloads a month, which you can easily do in 30 mins in the real world.

Don't plan on downloading many movies.....;)

LTT released a batch of the network modems to their dealerships yesterday. These always sell out VERY quickly so get along there if you want to get online!

Thanks Sandaman....
I m not there yet though, just checking what i may have to consider soon....Being prepared does not harm, hey?
