Hi

I have heard that Kharj market in Riyadh is a possible place to buy a used iphone. I have search the web to try to find out where it is located. Can anybody help with directions?

waltta

if you mean harij  .. it's not a good idea to go there lol ..

you can find a used iphone in al mursalat mobile/computer market.

There is no market named Kharj,as far as i know.

If you mean Haraj,as above said, not a good idea to go there lol, people buy all kind of used stuff like furniture, home appliances there, but not used phones.

You can find 2nd hand phones in Mursalat, computer market & Khamsa mara.

soory Anne099 ... you can find used phones in the Haraj .. it's on the back  of the Haraj ( last rod) .. but i do not recommend that area for him !! from me .. i think it's a very remote place .. am i right ?

The full name of that place is Haraj Bin-Qasim that's in east of Riyadh. Yes, I agree with @waltta and @Anne099: Not a place for you @charles.

Do let me know if you have plans to go to Mursalat market. I'll  be glad to meet you again charles :)

Thanks to all for the replys, the Expat.com members are great  for advice. in quick summary I went to al mursalat mobile/computer market beside the STC compound over the week end. it was interesting to find that second hand iphone 4 was going for an average of SR2000! In the UK and Ireland the going rate is SR1300-1500 which is a lot less!!!

Nevertheless al mursalat was a most interesting place to visit, its got to be one of the biggest mobile phone market anywhere and full of interesting people.I would recomend a visit to any body that interested in tech.

Thanks for all the warnings on the Haraj market. However I was there at this most interesting vast market earlier earlier in the year and experienced no problems. It is important to dress down and perhaps not to be flashy with an expensive camera. In a previous life I worked intermittently in Soweto in S.Africa and survived  so you could say I am pretty street wise which may have helped with my visit to haraj.  The "canadian in riyadh" blog has some good information on Haraj for anybody wishing to visit. canadianinriyadh.blogspot.com/2009/11/riyadhs-secondhand-souk.html.

Haraj market  is in the south of Riyadh ... charlesc .. if u did all that experiences .. you should go !! lol if want me take you there just let me know ...

in the first place you should know that the live in the UK and Ireland is cheaper then here ... lol ..   except the accommodation and the petrol   ..
