Hi Guys,

I arrived Jeddah on Friday morning, three days ago, from Edinburgh with 8 hours transit in Paris.....we all seem to suffer being new and with no friends yet....I say lets all meet up somewhere and form a network of friends. I am free thursday and Friday too. I am still looking for a place to stay. I am in  hotel for now...I am sure we can all help one another.
Please Get in touch. especially if you can help with or end my search for a place to stay. if not dont worry. i have a car and i plan to drive to the beach this thursday. somewhere to swim and do some fishing. 0568 588 100

Hi Guys,

Maybe I can be of some help.  I've been a 'regular' in the Riyadh forum for a few years and what I've noticed is that when you try to make a large group get-together, it never seems to get off the ground.

What you guys need to do is contact somebody who you like due to their posts or have something in common with after reading their profile and then arrange an activity for just 3 or 4 people.

If you have several small groups that begin to meet regularly, either these groups can then get together or you can begin to include others in your existing group, one at a time (this is why it's so good to participate in the forum, to let others get a sense of who you are).

As for getting someone to let you use their compound for a party, as somebody mentioned earlier:  let me say that the people who live on western compounds very much resent being contacted by strangers who want to 'use' their homes!!

And one last thing, most western compounds won't allow nationals to enter (the authorities here usually turn a blind eye to what westerners do on their compounds but don't want us 'corrupting' their own people--so in order not to invite trouble, Saudis are usually not allowed in).

Good luck!
