Hi everyone! We are moving to Quito in April-May 2012. New and used car prices seem to be extremely high. Am I missing something? Thank you for any input.

Cars are really expensive here. I just bought a used 2006 Lada Niva 4x4 for $7,600. Maintenance, so far, seems to be pretty cheap. Brake fluid leak fixed cost $15 and total repair of front bumper (from my first accident) cost $110.
