Do Australian whitegoods/TV work in Switzerland?

Post new topic

LucerneBound

Hi there.  Am moving from Australia to Lucerne very soon and am wondering whether to ship fridge, washing machine, TV etc.  Does anyone have any advice regarding whether or not these appliance will work over there?  Would like to avoid having to buy new, but equally do not want to ship them only to discover that they are useless.  Many thanks!

Hello,
I dont know how long are you planning to stay, but I think its totally useless to ship all those stuff to Switzerland, except the TV.
Are you renting a flat, or maybe buying one and settle down here for good? If you rent, most (but not all) of the equipped flats has fridge and dishwasher (small ones, but depends on the flat). And if you want to bring your own washing machine, first you have to see the actual flat where you are moving in, because most of the times there are a common room for washing in each building, and you are not allowed to have your own washing machine (but again, depends on the flat and the "regie", which is the association you rent the flat from).
Hope it helped a bit, good luck!
