Hi there

I'm an IT Specialist (actually, I am the IT guys..IT support  ) working for SITA (sita.aero)for the last thirteen years. The wife and I have been to Mauritius a couple of times and is seriously considering moving to Grand Baie permanently. My plan is to open a Computer Support/ Repairs/ Data Recovery business, with the idea to secure service contracts with local businesses and resorts. I'm planning to train and employ locals, with the exception of one software developer.

My question is: Is there a market/ need for my venture in Mauritius?

I'm currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa and recently became a father and want to move to a less stressful (crime and rat-race) environment for my son to grow up in.

Hi

I am staying in Grand Baie for the time being. I am here for a while now and have noticed the lack of computer cafes in the area here. It is only Super U that has good internet services for the tourists. A computer shop as cafe/repairs and whatever else you want to do in it will work very well up here. You will only need a good location so people know about your business.

Working with resorts and hotels might be another option but again hotels and resorts have very advanced internet services these days.

In August 2011 we stayed at some luxury hotels on the island and they all had very good internet service. So it is up to you if you want to work as soletrader or partner with hotels!

Goodluck and may you get many other views.

Thanks for the replies. With my knowledge and experience in the field I'm sure I'll be able to give other guys a run for their money. Good and friendly service goes a long way these days.

Ok.. location-wise in Grand Baie. Who can I contact for a shop/ offices? or do anyone know about an available spot?
