single mom needs family visa immediately

Post new topic

Hi,

Am I such a rare breed?  I am a single mom working currently in Syria but wishing to move to a job offer in Jeddah. Problem is I have been told that I have to come and work there for 90 days before I get an Iqamaa for my children.  Have they never heard of single moms?  How the heck can I leave three children behind in a country verging on civil war without adult supervision.  Are they crazy?  Can anyone come up with any suggestions please; I am desperate.  I have the job but no way I can sign the contract.

I assume you have you told them exactly how it is, have you? Have you actually had a full conversation with the employer about it, perhaps they can help you to work around it somehow. You may be able to shorten the probation aswell my husband did a month before he was signed off. Maybe you have family who can care for them for a month???

Also Saudi is not very care free when it comes to telling you to leave. Should the job not work out what are your plans. It's not like the UK where everybody and their dog turns up and should they need government help its there.

Also look at maybe asking about a family visit visa for that period I did this last time round, was 90 days at a time and I was told i could and did renew it when it ran out. Took just a week to get it all sorted each time

Thanks,

My employer is an American company and they are doing their best to swing it for me. I will speak to the MD again though and see what happens giving him your suggestion. The younger two children do have relatives here but hey this is Syria and they are relatives of my ex husband so I can't take the risk in case I lose custody of my kids.

Just be aware that you did manage to swing it on a visit visa you may have to get insurance for them as i don't think they would be covered in your contract at that point.
