Hello from the USA

Post new topic

patrickclark

I'm travelling to Vitoria, Brazil in a few days to visit my daughter who lives and teaches there.  I don't speak Portuguese so I'm hoping to encounter English speaking expats there who can share their experience of living in Brazil.

Christine

Hi patrickclark,

Welcome to Expat.com!

I have moved your topic on the Brazil forum for better visibility.

All the best,

Hi Pat,

Vitória is a large port city and rather hectic. While it is home to many expats you might find it difficult to run into people who speak English during your stay. I hope your daughter speaks Portuguese and will be accompanying you for the most part.

You will want to drive down the beach in Vila Velha, it is probably the most beautiful in Vitória. Be careful on the beaches to the north of Vitória (from Jacaraipe north) the waves can be quite dangerous at times. Praia Grande to the north is quite beautiful too.

Hi Pat,  Douglas Trent here, an American in Belo Horizonte.   My Brazilian cell is 31  9134-3833.  If your daughter does not speak Portuguese, and has a cell phone, you can call me if you need a quick translation over the phone, perhaps to a taxi driver, etc.

Cheers, Douglas
