Moving from US to KSA

Luckily we have been landlords before so have experienced the many glitches too. When you come back to the states do you stay with friends/family or do you rent. Since we are not taking our stuff I think I would miss my " stuff". We have no close family here so staying with friends for a unspecified time may prove difficult.

I'm never there for more than a couple weeks at a time and divide my time between several states, visiting family.

If I were going to stay for an extended period, I'd rent but I'd plan my visit for the 'off season,' at which time rentals are cheap (esp. in FL).

Depends on the market, how much you pay per month and the type of house and the rental market you are in.  If you can sell at a good price and are not overly attached to the property then that is the best option. A lot less headaches.  My home is presently worth approx. 50% of it normal price.  Not a good time to sell.  To leave it vacant means increased insurance and a lack of maintenance unless you have someone who takes care of it.  I could give you the horror stories of the renting but why depress you.  Non Payments, damages, stolen property, lack of maintenance.   So bad my family went back to live at the house and I switched to an apartment outside of a compound.  By not having my kids in school here and the dif. in the cost from a 3 br in a compound to a luxury 2 BR apt. in a new building I was able to save enough per year to pay for the family to live in the US and me to live here alone.  Recommendation keep it simple.  Make it easy to leave here if you have to.  Live in a furnished compound and bring the minimum unless the company pays for all expenses.  Typ. Company will not pay if you deside to leave before the end of the contract.  Rent to someone you known will take care of your property even at a discount.  Sell if you can make a good profit.  Good Luck.
