my husband got a job offer from a local saudi company in early jan and the visa process started. end of jan they told us that they are having trouble getting a visa for a pakistani national but the expect the visa to come through by mid feb. should we be worried? is the saudi govt. refusing visas based on nationalities?

The way I understand it,  companies get so many visas for job titles and nationalities.  When they use up what they have, you either have to wait until they get more OR they may improvise.  That's why an engineer might end up here working on a visa that says 'laborer' !  He then transfers when an Engineer visa becomes available.

However, clearly they can't do this with nationalities so you have to wait.

agree with Alliecat and want to emphasize...never ever accept a labor visa...u will be waiting years to get your family down. make sure u got the right visa.

We had the same issue, but luckily he has joint nationality and is back being a South African in Saudi :)

HAHAHA, its quite funny here, things will never go right @ the first instance here and if they are going the right way then probably something is wrong... no pun intended....

We have a very senior expat of 35yrs experience working on a JANITOR visa..... lol...
