Hi,
We are a french couple, Marine and Mathieu, 30 year old. We are both researcher in social sciences.
After 6 months in India, we are arriving in Nairobi on the 14th of march to do some fieldwork in Kenya during two or three months (we may have to go to Mombasa in mid-may, but it's not sure yet).
We are looking for a nice double room in Nairobi, in a welcoming area.
Our Budget is around 20.000 to 30.000 per month (inclusive of all expenses).
We really like leaving with other people and discover different countries. We are used to have roommates and like sharing our time and space with interesting people. We both speak english, a bit of Hindi. mat
I'm a good cooker and after 6 months in India i can do some pretty good curries.
Maybe you don't have a room available in your house for this specific period, if it's sadly the case can you pass the word to other expats ?
Thank you for your help.

Best Regards,
Marine

hi enirama, welcome to Kenya in advance.

Browse  through the Nairobi forum, there was someone who was looking for roomates with whom to share a large house that they are renting. I think this would be a nice opportunity for you since these individuals are expatriates as well. In the meantime,do have an idea of which part of Nairobi you will be working from? Thank will help you in deciding where to look for a house.

All the best.

HI, Marine, how are you? welcome to nairobi, i am from hyderabad, india and i did masters from tiruchirapally, Trichy tamilnadu. you might know this place, coz you stayed in pondicherry. i am in nairobi form 10 months, this is a nice place to live, but for 20,000 to 30,000 getting a house is difficult, here cost of living is high compared to india. So better try for some sharing basis onw, there are many options for french people to get sharing accomodation. here i found many many french people. so you will have great time. welcome.

Hello from Pondy,
Thank you for your nice advices.
We know that Nairobi is gonna be more expensive than India, that's why we are also looking for roommates.
We've been to the beautiful temples of Trichy, and we really had a great time in India. We are also very happy to come to Kenya and hope it's gonna be such a great experience too.
You may show us where to find a "masalai chai" so we can have one together in Nairobi.
Seeya.
Marine.

Hello Ms Marine,
Nice that you visited many temples in Tamilnadu. There are many temples in nairobi too. You wil have great time here in many different ways. The climate of nairobi is awesome. I love the cimate here and so stayed for so long time. As for the cost of living, its expensive. So when you plan to come here you can bring some stuff for yourself from india. You also get all the indian spices here, but the quantity would be less and the price would be more.
Sure we can have masala chai sometime here.
Welcome to nairobi.

Hello,
Do you have any idea of where you would like to stay while in Nairobi?

We are a couple, British and Kenyan, and have a room available in our apartment. It is in a quiet area, with good transport links to the city centre.

Do feel free to get in touch if you'd like some more information.

We've heard about the west part of Nairobi but we are not fixed on a specific area. We gonna do interviews all around Nairobi so we don't need to be close to a specific place.
We would like some place convenient for access to transports and not too far from the center, or close to the basic trio "shops, restaurants and bars".
Where is your place ? How much is the rent for the room inclusive of water, electricity, internet ?
Thank you for your answer.
Marine.

Hi, if you want access, to shopping centre, cinema, food courts, clubs and bars, these places would be fine. Westlands, Parklands, Junction, Ngong road and Hurlingam. These places are safe and fine. Many foreigners stay here and have access to all these within walk-able. Hope you get the best place...
