Moving to Vancouver from Singapore

Hi,
I have just got my Permanent Residency of Canada and after visiting Toronto and Vancouver I have decided to move to Vancouver.
My wife and I are currently in Singapore and we are planning to leave this place FOR GOOD since it stressful,expensive and too messy for comfort.
I would appreciate if you could advice me regarding finding jobs,good areas to live in.I intend hiring a room initially and after getting a job,intend to move my wife to Vancouver.
Please do let me ink your thoughts about living and working in Vancouver.
