Photographic Scenery Shanghai

Post new topic

Toe-B

Hi everyone

Walking through the city today I realized that Shanghai offers some spectacular opportunities (especially by night) for all those who are into photography.

So I had the idea to find some other interested people, meet one Sat/Sun afternoon and spend the rest of the day/evening hunting for sceneries. Now it's simply too cold, so I would suggest to wait for a warmer day with good view and nice weather (maybe around end of March).

Ideally we would be 3-4 people, so we can take a taxi A to B.
I am not a pro myself (not even close to). Didn't bring my DSLR, only have a simple compact camera and a mini tripod with me. Everyone can join, no special requirements (else than some creativity and patience =))

Would anyone else be up for that?

Hi  there!
Actually wanting to do this since a long time, though Im not yet an experienced photografer but its time to start!

Toe-B

I see, the interest is rather limited (which solves my taxi issue) :D

I will post it here when I plan to do my tour, then everyone else can decide spontaniously if he/she want to join

Jo_SG2011

Yep, count me in!

Toe-B

Good to see that something is moving here =)

I am planning to go picture-hunting within the next 3 weeks, depending on weather and temperature. Preferably on a Sunday, so people are available.

More infos to come
Stay tuned

Hi Guys! What about this weekend? If someone decided, please let me know.
                  Cheers,Svettta:)

Jo_SG2011

This sun sounds good to me!

Toe-B

Haha guys, I had the same thought, just haven't figured out a plan yet =)

Timewise I was thinking about 3pm - open end (9pm or so), since I consider SH most attractive in the evening hours (and people cancure their hangover from Friday). Could be combined with a in-between dinner.

Targets could be
-Yuyuan garden
-Puxi waterfront
-Pudong financial district
-Lupu bridge
-City freeway cross
-and more...

Suggestions are welcome =)

EDIT: I'd suggest Saturday as date

Hello everyone!
I am somewhat new to this website and the city. I would love to meet some photographers and shoot.
What about some lesser known areas of Shanghai? (although I am not sure what to suggest) Places like Yuyuan garden is so well documented. But please let me know, whereever you decide to shoot!

Thanks, Nancy

boglana

Yep:) Yuaun garden is important!

boglana

also very good light in the middle of the day opposite of the vaitan tower watershore..

Jo_SG2011

For Sat, I'll join you guys around 6-ish as I've an activity until 5pm.

For daytime shooting, I can suggest French concession or the old neighborhoods in Huaihai area.
We can take the passenger ferry at dusk and shoot the scenery on both sides of the bund.

If shooting from 3pm - night, perhaps we can have 4 locations in total?

Jo_SG2011

Heya, is shooting still on tomorrow?

boglana

Hi Jo!
Very nice to meet you))Tomorrow I could go for it..;)

shanghaialps

id be happy to join!
have taken quite a few pictures here already. oyster market in xintiandi is amazing and bund bars have the best panoramic views of pudong. when and where?

Toe-B

Hey guys

The original plan was Saturday (tmr I cant). But observing the weather forecasts for the last 2 days, I have bad news. They expect heavy rain 2nd half of Friday and whole Saturday. Not on Sunday, however, which they predict perfect sunshine.

So it would probably reasonable to postpone it to either Sunday, or else to another weekend.

What does everyone think?

shanghaialps

sunday sounds great actually

Jo_SG2011

Oops! I meant Saturday.. Soz, living life a day earlier!
Sure Sunday sounds good!

Toe-B

Okay, let's go for Sunday then, I think it's most convinient.
I will post time and meeting point asap.

Still open for ideas regarding hotspots

Toe-B

Alright guys. Meeting Point will be:

Coffee Bean next to Jing'an Temple (Metrostation line 2/7, on the North side of the temple, next to Bruger King, easy to find)
Time: 3pm

Let's grab a coffee first, discuss the route and then take off.
If anyone needs my number -> PM

boglana

ok, see you all tomorrow guys!

jazzy851

Hey All,
Would be good to see the pictures you decide to shoot. If possible post them up on the site? I'm no expert in this field, but take I an interest in photography, and i'm still a learner ;)
