VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION !

السلام عليكم,

Could you please help me about this:  i want to study in saudi arabia (pharmacy) but i don't know if expatriates can actually own a pharmacy ? I suppose they can't but I hope it is still possible.

ﻼﻳﺰﺟ اﺮﻜﺷ  and have a nice day!

Hi mate,
The expats may OWN any sort of business in KSA through SAGIA issued commercial registrations. Because of very high investors demand, SAGIA procedures are very slow (sometimes non-responsive) and they do expect you to show a real HUGE capital.

Thank you very much for this quick answer! Nevertheless, pharmacy is a very special sector and sometimes it has its own regulations . For example, in France, you can't own a pharmacy if you're not pharmacist to be sure pharmacies are well dispersed through the country.

Yes, pharma is a respectable field/profession and I'm sure saudi government must have put checklists/regulations for such business setup.

The bottom-line is: It's a business after all, and investments in this regard ARE governed by SAGIA.

I don't think it will be beside the point to mention that the most common way for expats to go into a business is to partner with a local owner. Have you considered that option?

By the way, are you planning to setup a pharmacy run solely by lady/ies? Never heard of any such existing in KSA. May be in near future....

Pleasehelp

Yes, i will try to get more informations as soon as possible, i hope there won't be any barriers with the accreditation issue.

Well partnership means less money right? ;)

Concerning a pharmacy run solely by ladies: what a lovely idea ahahaah!! But even if they are only ladies, they still have to face men to give them drugs! Unless there's an ingenious system created so that they can communicate without having to be face-to-face?

Saudi women usually don't work in pharmacies i suppose right? ahhaha (too low class for them!!!)

Accreditation?
I guess you mean pharma degree accreditation; right?
For any degrees got outside the KSA, Saudi council conducts an exam. Only the passing pharmacist gets the license to kill practise.

Better words: Partnership = Profit Sharing :)
The local owner facilitates you in the legal matters and investments. In return, he/she takes a good part from the profit.
Btw, don't ignore this option. It's the most practical. I'm sure during your study course in PNU, you'll get a local mate who'll be able to work together.

In pharmacies inside the hospitals, the common drug trafficker, I mean delivery persons :) are usually girls. But your assumption is right, I've never seen a local there.

Pleasehelp

Well, i meant if saudi diploma was accredited in my home country: tunisia.

Thanks for your advices, that's very kind of you ;) But i doubt locals would do something like this, if they really have money they don't need to bother ..

TheLegendLeads

:) That sounds like kinda hopeless statement.

Not everyone is having lots of money.

You'll hardly find people here who have money to invest but don't want to. That's how KSA is considered extremely fertile territory for revenue generation.

Don't lose hopes; All the Best!
