Hi, I suppose there would be a lot of particulars about your daughter that would be needed before making any assesments. First of all, you may want to be more specific about what she would be doing in Italy. Would she be studying? Working? Backpacking? How old is she? Was she targetting any particular city?

I live in Genoa which is North and on the sea. We have a lot of Immigrants here and I have had the pleasure of getting free Italian language lessons at a local public school. But I had to have some legal documents that made me eligible first.

I knew some basic Italian before I moved here and my husband is Italian so I have his family to assist me when he is away for work. I don't know if I could have managed without them!

Genoa has a lot of very old people and there is not much in the way of nightlife, but I understand the University is quite good. I have been lucky to encounter a lot of Italian's that know some English and this has helped me get around the city easily.

I hope this helps.
Leah
