Hi all,

We invite all the ones who got married in Czech Republic  or who are about to get married in Czech Republic  to participate in this thread :)

What are the formalities to get married in Czech Republic ? Is it the same for a couple of foreigners of for a mixed couple (between a foreigner and a native of the Czech Republic)?

Are the procedures complicated?

How long does it take to carry out all the formalities?

Thank you in advance for participating,

Armand

In advance of your wedding, you need to complete legal preliminaries with the Matriká (Registrar) for the local authority area within whose jurisdiction your wedding is to take place. This applies to both Church & Civil weddings. The requirements are the same, whether it is Czech marrying a foreigner or two foreigners who wish to marry each other.

However, all foreign documents will need to be apostilled, translated into Czech by an official translator, & then notarised. And if neither party to the marriage can speak Czech, then you are best to use an agency as the Matriká is most unlikely to speak, or be willing to speak, & explain things in English!

You should ascertain from the Matriká as soon as possible, exactly what documentation will be needed from both you as well as what s/he will want from your fiancée. That will then give you some idea of time-scale.

Any further questions - please ask.

Hello !
We really need help.
I`m originally Belarusian.
Currently living in Poland on work visa which is valid to 15 Nov. 2012.
My fiance is an American. But he also got his Italian passport in january 2012. So he is also an Italian citizen now.
He has Polish residence permit til sept. 2013.
He was married to a Polish girl but got divorced 3 years ago and has all legal documents.
We are planning to get married in Czech Republic and we really need to have at least a slight idea what documents we need to prepare.
Also could somebody tell us how long it usually takes?
We really need to do it as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance for the answers!
