Hi all,

We invite all the ones who got married in Nicaragua or who are about to get married in Nicaragua to participate in this thread :)

What are the formalities to get married in Nicaragua? Is it the same for a couple of foreigners of for a mixed couple (between a foreigner and a native of Nicaragua)?

Are the procedures complicated?

How long does it take to carry out all the formalities?

Thank you in advance for participating,

Armand

i have a gringo friend that lives in matagalpa that is going to marry a nica. one government lawyer wants a divorce decree and a birth certificate. another lawyer just needs a birth certificate. if he eventually finds out what he needs and does get married i will post it here.

Hi,
I got married in Nicaragua, and it was not complicated at all. I went to an attorney, and we did it right there, there was no need for attorneys or any special information. My birth certificate, from the states and passport was all the paperwork that was used. My husband had his birth certificate and his ID from Nicaragua. We went through the process, and then were handed the papers. End of story. Good luck!
