All about tenancy

Given that such a large segment of the overall population is involved in rentals, one way or another, and the law is almost non-existent on the subject, there isn't much 'all' to know.

What we can be doing, through your group, is to petition the Governor of the State Bank of VietNam to have him make it mandatory that all leases be in DONG ONLY, then we can get away from this depressing monthly excahnge calculation.

I think he might be receptive.

Well, I started it in 1997 as of a high school girl. Back then, they did not charge for the rent but just asked us to pay city water and electricity bills and of course help them keep the house/room clean.

There have been 15+ houses I have moved. The general issues are just:

- Electricity over-charge
- Deposit "game"
........blah blah.

That makes VN landlords just like landlords everywhere! Greedy and Grubby.

don't call me/us "Greedy and Grubby". We actually did need almost one year, to find a tenant of one of our houses with 200sqm. Rent was advertised with 2 mio VND, newly rebuild and decorated, near the old NT Airport.
