Thai language school in Bangkok

Post new topic

Hugorio

I am planning to learn Thai when I go to Bangkok in January.
Can anyone recommend a good Thai language school, but  not too expensive, in Bangkok? I don't want to start out with a tutor or private lessons. I like to take a regular group class first.
Thank you so much,
Hugo

Sawatdee kha Hugorio:

I happened to write an entire article on the subject of learning Thai in Bangkok. The schools I write about are all expat recommended with contact information and the links to their websites.

Please see Resources for Learning Thai.

Hope it helps in your decision to choose a school.

Hi,

In additional to the schools in the Learning Resources page, I can also recommend Baan Aksorn school (baanaksorn.com, Soi Sukhumvit 33, behind CNC Condo). I've been studying with them for almost 2 years now and very pleased with the results (eg. ability to read Thai novels, newspapers etc). Most of the students are professionals & diplomats working in BKK - the Singapore embassy send many of their staff there.

Amy - perhaps you could add this school to your list?

Chulalongkorn University also runs full-time intensive classes which have received very good feedback, although it's targeted at people wanting to learn academic & business Thai prior to their main studies or starting work. It's not suitable for anyone already working full-time though because of the class schedule. Info here: arts.chula.ac.th/~asc/Intensive_Thai.html

The womenlearnthai.com and thai-language.com sites are very good, as mentioned in Amy's list. The forums on the latter always has people willing to help out, regardless of your level/ability.

Best wishes for your studies,
Mark
